MANILA, Philippines – Habang napakaraming nagugutom na Pilipino ang hindi nabigyan ng ayuda mula sa Social Amelioration Program (SAP), nagulat ang mga senador na mayroon palang tumataginting na P10 Billion worth ng SAP ang hindi naipamigay ng DSWD.
Lumabas ang impormasyong ito sa budget hearing ng DSWD.
Katumbas ito ng apat na milyong beneficiaries na hindi nabigyan dahil sa inefficiency ng DSWD.

Emergency Funds nga pero napakabagal.
“We hope they can distribute the amounts left expeditiously and without the long lines that we witnessed in some cases. These were emergency funds after all, which were diverted from other government programs so as to react to the damage caused to families and individuals affected by COVID-19,” sabi ni Sen. Sonny Angara.

“With unemployment projected to rise in the coming months, more families will go hungry and we need to do better in providing assistance,” dagdag naman ni Sen. Joel Villanueva.

Huwag nyong gawing savings!
Ayon naman kay Sen. Panfilo Lacson, daang libong Pilipino ang naghihintay ng ayuda para makakain. Sana man lang daw ay isipin sila ng DSWD.
Sinabihan ni Sen. Lacson ang mga opisyal ng DSWD na gastusin bilang SAP ang P10 billion na ito at huwag ideklarang savings.
“I would have insisted that the DSWD utilize the P10 billion for distribution, instead of prematurely declaring the same as ‘savings’ after it scaled down the number of cash aid beneficiaries by four million households,” sabi ni Lacson.
